Playing Catch-up, Pt. 3

Halloween. Casey decided to push the envelope with this theme and have us pick songs that are scary - eeks! Songs related to death/ghosts, etc.

August - these were songs we'd be embarrassed to have pop up on the "shuffle" setting of our iPod in mixed company. Nix that, in front of any company!

Playing Catch-up, Pt. 1

Casey realized in December, we'll have a full year's worth of mixes. So, I need to post all of the ones that are missing for our masterful showcase. They will be in separate posts, but I'll let you know what they're for. What we're missing is the following: January (workout mixes); Casey's February mix; August (guilty pleasures); and October (Halloween!).

Here is my January the workout miss. Casey needs to upload hers first before I can post it!

WORKOUT CASE

DELILAAAHHHHH

Dude...this has got to be one of our wittiest playlists yet! We came up with 12 scenarios (six each) that you'd likely hear on Delilah (or not) and then, had to come up with songs we think she'd play. The following are the playlists (Casey's, then mine) and then the scenarios.

Delilahs Dedications

Delilah - Love someone tonight

1.) My husband hasn't been able to get his papers to enter America, so I am here and he's still in Mexico. I really miss him, Delilah.

2.) My dad is my best friend and I just wanted to let him know I was thinking about him tonight. (The beautifully ironic underscore being that you know her pops don't be listenin' to no Delilah!)

3.) I was in love with this girl in high school, but when I went away to college I let things go sour between us. I got married, she got married, we both had kids and never really kept in touch - I just heard news about her through mutual friends. Her husband passed away two years ago and I'm divorced now. We recently started talking again and I am just so excited about where our relationship is headed.

4.) It's my three-year anniversary tomorrow. My husband and I met on Match.com, which we think is so funny, but it worked for us! Can you find a song for us, please?

5.) My mom died of cancer several months ago. At the time I was dating someone and he really didn't offer the support I needed. Her doctor was always so compassionate with our family and my mom as his patient. He noticed what a jerk my boyfriend was and really stepped up to help me deal with my loss. We have gone out on a few dates and I think I'm in love!

6.) My best friend moved away after college, but we've kept in touch ever since. She's lost a sibling and was partially paralysed in a car accident, but she's the strongest person I know. I go visit her often, but I just wanted to let her know over the airwaves how proud I am of her and how much I love her.

7) I was dropping my daughter off at school when I exchanged glances with her handsome and young teacher. I happened to look down and see his wedding ring, much to my disappointment. I can’t help but feel like we made a connection. Should I ask him for coffee, Delilah?

8) I’ve recently left my dear home in the South to move to New York City to start my dance career. I love the hustle and bustle of the city but it gets so lonely at night and I think about everything I left behind. Can you play something for me, Delilah, that will remind me of home?

9) My husband-to-be and I are looking forward to our wedding night where we can exchange God’s greatest gift with one another. I want him to know how I feel and how right we are for each other. Can you dedicate a song to our intimate night?

10) My mom just entered rehab after struggling with crack addiction since she was a teenager. I’m so proud of her, Delilah, and want to let her know I support her, even though we don’t speak anymore.

11) Delilah, I’m in love. And I’ve never seen him! We met in a cloud cafĂ© in Second Life. His avatar’s name is SwinginSam and he charmed me from the start. We chat every night ‘til the sun comes up. The problem is, I’m afraid of what he’d think of me if we met in person. I don’t get out much. But he makes me feel so loved. Can I dedicate a song to SwinginSam to let him know how I feel?

12) My cat just came back from the clinic after a traumatic operation. I miss his lively demeanor, his humor, and his feisty attitude, Delilah. Since he’s come home, he’s much more reserved and we hardly play anymore. Can you play a song that might put the spark back into our friendship? He’s all I’ve got.

A Delayed Mix

Ramadan (google it) fell in the month of September this year. I (Reem) typically limit my media intake during Ramadan, including music. It got me to thinkin' a good playlist theme would be: songs I can't live without. If I were stranded on an island, what ONE mix CD would I have with me? Below, you can see Casey and my choices...and the difference between us!

May Mixes

Hiiiiiii.  We're a little late this month...we've been busy.  But, it's not like anyone actually checks this website besides Casey and I and the poor folks we force to listen to this.  One day, we'll be famous like Brian Austin Green and you all can say you knew us back in the day.

The May theme is MAY I Touch You There - a playlist dedicated to songs that feature 'body' parts.  I'm going to post mine now and enter Casey's when it's ready in a different post.  I think that will make it easier to load the playlists for you anyways.  Please leave a comment if you listen, it'll make us feel ~validated.~

April Showers

Drum roll please...

DreamCase Produshuns proudly presents the April Showers Miss.  Like Casey said, anyone can make you sweat - but these songs can keep you...ahem, dancing.

March

March was, I think, our first official mix off. It was the Say My Name miss - theme chosen by Reem, but title from the ever witty Casey. I'll embed Casey's first and then mines...and you decide who made you say their name!

Casey mixin' it proper-style!

Who's that girl?? Reem's that girl!

February

Please pardon our mess as we try to get our mixes all up on imeem so we can share them with you here.

Casey aptly chose Valetine's Jams for February. Her playlist is titled the Satin Sheets Mix, LOL. Mine was Smoove Jams 4 Long Nights. Mine's up on imeem, so I'll embed it here and we'll post Casey's as soon as we can.

(Note: that's not the version of the Donna Summers' song I wanted, but I am not hardcore like Case, and will take what's already there.)

Upcoming Misses

Hello, all!

LOL. I say "all" as if anyone other than the two contributors reads this. Soon, we'll be embedding our imeem playlists to feature our hit mixes. For now, we'd like to share our tentative themes for the next few months. We're alternating who gets to choose themes. Casey has April and June and I've taken May and July.

April Showers - for all those rainy days. Songs about water in its various forms.
May I Touch You There? - Songs featuring body parts both in title and content.
June Summer* - The classic summer song playlist.
July the 4th Patriots - Songs that make you feel warm and fuzzy about our country.

We look forward to impressing you ;-)

Ciao,
r.

Welcome to the DreamCase Mixes Blog...

First, let me introduce myself.  My name is Reem.  Soon, you'll meet my friend Casey.  We're both twenty-somethings that are far too witty and silly for our own good.  Sadly, we don't live in the same state...but that also explains why we mail each other CDs.

Sometime last year, Casey asked me to make her a "Mellow Miss CD."  [Note: Casey and I often change spellings of words to reflect how we actually pronounce them.  Thus, miss is really mix.]  After the mellow miss compilation, we traded workout playlists so we could encourage each other to go to the gym AND get our beat on while doing so.  This finally lead to our "mix offs," a brainchild of Casey's.

Three months in to the game, I realized we should host our playlists on imeem.com, which is a cheaper way for us to share our playlists with each other.  Then, I thought - hell, why not blog about it?  Everyone else blogs, why not us?  So, now we're on imeem, where essentially no one but the two of us will see our playlist mix off, and we're also gonna post a blog that lists our monthy theme and our respective playlists.  People can vote whose playlist is better through the comments.

I bet Trina is the only person who'll ever check this...but that's okay.
